A STATEMENT FROM LUNCHBOX THEATRE BOARD CHAIR DUVAL LANG AND ARTISTIC PRODUCER SAMANTHA MACDONALD

Calgary, AB - Lunchbox Theatre is mourning the recent loss of George Ross, a former administrator and good friend of this theatre company and others, as well as the communities of Calgary and Banff. A stalwart and enthusiastic leader and constant booster of the arts, George will be dearly missed. He was General Manager of Lunchbox Theatre from 2011 to 2014 and helped lead the company through several transitional phases.

In the words of former Artistic Director Pamela Halstead, who worked most with George, “As General Manager of Lunchbox George Ross led, as he did in all aspects of his life, with kindness and humility. He joined the team at Lunchbox when we were having challenges fulfilling the key role of GM, and he generously came out of retirement to help us navigate through those critical years. He will be greatly missed.”

George was a regular at Lunchbox, and it was not unusual for him to pop into the offices during a visit to the dentist, just to check in and offer support. We will miss his gentle smile, mischievous wit and warm embrace. George was a gentle man and a true gentleman.

We wish to extend our sincere condolences to Sally Truss, and to all of George’s family and friends.
